CS LEWIS EN
From the painful wound of the loss of God to the desperate study to prove His absence until reconversion, to the discovery of Joy.
Clive Staples Lewis 1898 - 1963
Joy is distinct not only from pleasure in general but even from aesthetic pleasure. It must have the stab, the pang, the inconsolable longing. (Surprised by Joy)
close examination:
C.S. Lewis
The center of gravity of Lewis' professional and personal life revolved around the search for and demonstration of God's existence, especially during his adolescence and early adulthood. Although a convinced agnostic, in the years of training and work at Oxford the creator of the world of Narnia became Tolkien's colleague and friend, and it seems that in the interweaving of their stories of fantastic worlds and unbeatable knights Lewis' spiritual path led him to get closer to God again and become an Anglican theologian.
